Jazz is a famous French influencer, who started her career as a reality show candidate. She lives in Dubaï with her husband Laurent and her two children, Chelsea, 2 years old, and Cayden, 1-year-old. She uses social media every day, mostly Instagram and Snapchat. Thanks to these platforms, she can talk about her product placement which is actually her work. As every public figure, she encounters opportunities, risks, and threats because of / thanks to social media. That is what we are going to discuss in this article.

As we said, Jazz became famous thanks to some French reality shows, such as “Les Anges 8”, or “La Villa des Coeurs Brisés 2”. She didn’t really like it so she decided to continue her career on her own and to become an influencer. How did she manage to do it on her own? Thanks to social media. She bounded on its opportunities to develop a huge community around her.
She has 2.7 million followers on Instagram. Thanks to her notoriety on social media, she developed a real attachment around her family. People want to discover all parts of her life! Some of her fans are obsessed with her entire lifestyle. They want to know what she wears, what she eats, where she goes, who she is with… So, she decided to create some Instagram pages for her children to show the most important part of her life! Chelsea counts more than 1.2 million followers and Cayden has 760k of them. This is just unbelievable for children of 2 and 1 years old… She even created a Snapchat account for her daughter to show to her followers what she is always doing.
Thanks to social media, Jazz is seen as a perfect mother, a perfect wife, and a perfect businesswoman to some of her followers. People create some fan accounts dedicated to her family and her. People love her so much that she decided to create a show dedicated to her family: JLC Family. It is like a reality show, but instead of presenting some young adults’ lives, it presents a family made of Jazz, her husband, their children, her sister Eva Queen, her mother… Thanks to the opportunities of social media, she created a real-entire world around her image.
But Jazz also went through real risks because of her notoriety on Social Media.
But being a social media influencer is not only getting fans, having fun, making benefits, and so on. You can be exposed to a lot of risks if you always show your life on social media.
Nowadays Jazz lives in Dubai, in a huge mansion. She often shows the neighborhood, as well as her interior design. In addition, she majorly only wears luxurious clothing brands to represent a rich influencer. By being overexposed on social media, the main consequence is to have a community of haters who comment on each post or story in a very rude manner. In her case, it has attracted some rubbers…

Unfortunately, that’s what happened. Her family and she had a burglary. In 2017, when they were still living in Aix-en-Provence, France, they got attacked in their own house. Thieves came and gassed Jazz and her 4 months old daughter, while Laurent - her husband - got stabbed in the leg. It is a tragedy that a lot of influencers go through since they show a lot about their personal lives.
This event traumatized them and forced them to move to Dubai because of the enhanced security. That is the reason why they kept on showing their belongings even after the robbery, they feel safer in Dubai.
However, another risk that influencers sometimes encounter is to be full of oneself and to forget where you come from. And that leads us to the threats of social media.
Threats are also massive due to the number of people following the entire family every day, the success of Jazz has made her daughter achieve 1.2 million followers, which is huge for such a young child. By being so exposed it creates a massive threat not only for her but for her entire family which she films every day.

She has a huge influence on young teenagers and the way she spends her money is very extravagant. Jazz shows herself in the most expensive cars like Lamborghini, Range Rover, Rolls-Royce,
as well as wearing the most expensive clothes which makes her audience unconfident as they feel that they can’t offer themselves the same materials hence they can’t always relate with her life.
At the beginning of the year, 2020 Jazz has delivered to her community that she has been through a miscarriage. She has filmed a video of her that she published saying that she had lost her baby due to how much stress she was carrying. She claims that a lot of her stress comes from the number of negative comments she receives every day.
The negative comments are most of the time written by fake accounts or at least accounts that don’t have an identity, still, there is still a percentage of perverse who have access to social media, and give a judgment on her as well as her kids. Jazz exposes a huge content on her kids, which allows accounts with bad intentions to have access to their life. The threats are that the kids could suffer from bullying, kidnapping, or even identity theft.

Jazz is the perfect example to illustrate the different aspects of social media. She benefited from the opportunities of these platforms to create herself a public figure and to become famous. She inspires so many people and has a huge fan community. But she also suffered from the major risk of showing her life: she got her housebroken, in France. She had to move to Dubaï because she wasn’t feeling safe anymore… But it didn’t stop her from continuing to use social media. She might not realize the threats that she is exposed to, such as her miscarriage due to the media pressure. However, Jazz is succeeding at the highest level and doesn’t take haters into account.

Very inspiring of her to persevere in her passion despite the dangers that came out of it. But, regarding those risks, is it very ethical of her to expose her children to such threats, without their consent, when she obviously knows the consequences of her behavior?
